What we can do is to tailor the chemotherapy in order to lessen the risk for infertility later on and that has been done through the years as well. What we also do is that we look at the chemotherapy agents that the patient is going to be receiving and look at their risk for infertility later on and make recommendations in terms of what can be done, in order to preserve a child’s fertility. So, for example, if a patient is supposed to receive radiation to the ovaries, for example, for a girl, then we would recommend that either the ovaries be shielded or we can have the ovaries moved to a different site, so that radiation does not reach the ovaries. However, that doesn’t protect it from chemotherapy, so it depends on what you do depends on each situation.
