One of the most important things that somebody said to me was actually my father. He and I were having a serious conversation about the fact that I used donor sperm and I didn’t use my biological sperm and I was having a little difficult time with it mentally. And my dad just looked at me and said, “Andy, you had two dogs in your life. Did you love your dogs?” My answer of course was yes. He said, “You’re married to [PH] Ylana. Do you love Ylana?” Yes, of course was my answer. He said, “Would you do anything in the world for your dogs or your wife?” And I said, “Absolutely.” He said, “Then you’re going to love this child the exact same way because your wife and your dogs are not biologically connected to you in any way.” And I left that night driving home and look at Ylana and told her the story and it’s absolutely true. And now when I feel my baby kicking inside my wife, this absolutely is my child and I’m already falling in love with it.
