So right away, after we heard about our—about my diagnosis, we, you know, we made some phone calls and looked into the fertility options, and I actually saw a fertility specialist, this extraordinary fertility specialist, before I saw my oncologist for the first time, because my husband and I, we always thought we’d have—we’d start a family someday, and it was very important to us.
So, we were lucky to call this fertility specialist—she saw us for free on the same day. So she laid out the options for us, she gave us a whole bunch of options, and recommended a treatment of Lupron injections monthly. So we all agreed that that would be the best option for me, and I started chemotherapy about a month after I was diagnosed. I had six months of chemotherapy with the monthly injections of Lupron, so I was put into menopause, and I, you know, I had the hot flashes, I had the mood swings, I had everything that came along with menopause. And of course I lost my period for those six months, which was also a blessing, because it kept my blood counts high. And then I finished chemotherapy in November, and I’ve been in remission for about a year and a half.
