After chemotherapy or radiation therapy, there really is a wide variation in terms of the length of time it takes a man to return to his new baseline levels of sperm production. Some men may return to their new baseline levels within a year. Other men may take up to 10 years or even longer. The important thing to realize is that patients can and should be patient with themselves and realize that on the front end, providing a semen sample for cryopreservation is the safest and smartest thing to do.
