Generally speaking, the oncologist is the one making the referral. The oncologist could be making that referral based on their recommendation or based on something the patient has brought up. Patients are also able to contact me directly or contact the Oncofertility Consortium and kind of get triaged to me to find out what fertility preservation options are available to them. So they come in a wide variety of ways. It could be the surgeon, it could be the oncologist, it could be a radiologist, it could be a general practitioner, it could be an OB-GYN who has seen the patient and made the referral. Somewhere, somebody has put this idea in their head that their fertility is going to be threatened and that they need to do something about it to find out about how they can preserve their fertility.
